God is Our Purpose

Have you ever asked what is my purpose in this crazy world? I sure have, many times. Oh, I’ve read Purpose Driven Life and taken plenty of Spiritual Gifts Inventories to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing. But it all boils down to this one thing whether we claim to know Jesus Christ and Jehovah God or not, God is Our Purpose.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines purpose as “the object for which something exists.” For the Bible believer Colossians 1:16 makes this clear: “all things were created by him and for him.” In other words, all things – not just people – exist for God.

So, you have the same purpose as the beauty of an untouched field of snow. The same purpose as the Grand Canyon. The same purpose as your pet iguana...or cat or dog. All of creation – including you and me – exists FOR God.

As you sit to spend a few minutes in intimate relationship with God, think about who you are addressing in prayer. You have come before the one and only purpose for which you exist. And he welcomes you with open arms. Picture that.

A Member Sheet using God is Our Purpose is available at MITI Group Leaders Corner.
